CLIVE TESAR
Clive Tesar (pen name E.T., short for Eric Tophy, which is an anagram) began his cartooning career with the now-defunct Native Press, in Canada’s Northwest Territories. For the past nine years, he has been the editorial cartoonist for the Slave River Journal, a weekly newspaper in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. The bison and whooping cranes that often show up in the cartoons are local symbols, as the town is on the edge of Wood Buffalo National Park. Cartoons can range from local to regional to national to international issues – whatever the cartoonist thinks people are talking about in the coffee-shop. Tesar’s day job is working as a communications consultant for indigenous peoples’ organizations, NGOs and governments, specializing in environmental, resource development, and indigenous rights issues.
