SHAHID MAHMOOD
SHAHID MAHMOOD, born in 1971, grew up in Pakistan during General Zia’s military rule. He started drawing for The Star, Karachi’s evening newspaper, at the age of 15. He went on to become the editorial cartoonist for both the national newspaper in Pakistan, Dawn, and newsmagazine, Newsline. A style described by editors as “irreverent and dark,” his work has appeared in numerous Pakistani, North American and international publications and manages to continuously enrage Benazir Bhutto. He now resides in Toronto.
