| JIM PHILLIPS was born a long time ago, along with twin brother John, in Newmarket and raised in Jackson’s Point, Ontario. Beginning his career in editorial cartooning at the age of 15 at The Lake Simcoe Advocate, he attended illustration and cartooning classes at Sheridan College and for a brief time studied at the Ontario College of Art. Winner of five Ontario and Canadian community newspaper awards for cartooning, he was the author of the daily cartoon (SUNtoon) published in The Toronto Sun from 1980 until this year and syndicated his editorial cartoons through his website. He drew a few animated cartoons during the last election campaign for The Globe and Mail’s and CTV’s websites. |
