| A native British Columbian with a passion for all things cartoon, Perry
attended a Fine Arts program after graduation and afer several years of hard
work, his dream of becoming a published editorial cartoonist came true. He
has been recognized with several Thomson national awards for both
illustration as well as with numerous Atlantic Journalism Awards for
Editorial Cartooning, including both the Gold and Silver awards in 2000.
He also achieved a certain notoriety. While working in New Brunswick he drew
a cartoon featuring the CEO of a public utility made up like a clown and was
subsequently sued. The matter was later dropped. Another cartoon created
its own storm for making Premier Bernard Lord cry and winning Perry the
unanimous condemnation of the New Brunswick legislature and various
municipal councils. This controversy and the offending cartoon were later
the subject of a television documentary.
Perry also does illustrative and caricature work for magazines, newspapers
and various publications and media.
His cartoons appear daily in Saint John Telegraph-Journal as well as
newspapers across Canada. His work is also featured with fellow cartoonists
in Macleans magazine. |
